Oasis Blog Challenge - 12/4

Challenge:

Ahhh, the holidays ... my favorite time of year. Christmas trees, lights, oh-so-yummy cookies and lots of presents. WAIT! Am I missing something? Shocked Shocked Shocked

How do you feel about Christmas? Too commercialized? How do you keep the meaning of Christmas? Do you think you are doing a good job at teaching your kids the true meaning?

Response:

Christmas is my favorite time of year; however, I do feel that it is too commercialized. Not only that, but I feel that I play my part it making it that way. I LOVE Black Friday shopping. Nothing gets me in the mood like Black Friday. I haven't always shopped BF. My first time was with some friends in Pensacola. We got up at 4am and hit the road. It was freezing cold! We had so much fun. As my daughter got older, she wanted to go too. Kinda put a damper on the shopping for her but it was great having her. It's more than the shopping, it's about spending time with my friends and family and doing something we enjoy together. Afterall, we are all buying for others so it is giving, right?!

We aren't regular church goers - not that I don't believe. But I try and remind them why we are celebrating.

Christmas will forever mean to me, a time for family and giving, but most of all a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Happy Birthday Jesus!
